PoE vs Wi-Fi cameras: which should you choose?

Wired PoE is the professional's choice; Wi-Fi wins on easy installation. Here is how to decide.

What PoE means

PoE (Power over Ethernet) sends both power and video through one network cable. One cable per camera means clean installations, stable video, and no batteries or Wi-Fi dropouts — which is why almost all business systems use it.

When Wi-Fi is the right call

Renting an apartment? Don't want to drill walls? Wi-Fi cameras install in minutes and move with you. Modern models record to a memory card with no subscription. The trade-off: they depend on your router's signal strength.

Our recommendation

For villas, offices, and shops: PoE or Turbo HD wired systems. For apartments and quick setups: Wi-Fi cameras or a wireless starter kit. Not sure? Take our Build My System quiz or message us on WhatsApp.
